Proof of progress
A portfolio your child takes to eighteen.
The Builder Portfolio is a record of what your child can do, with the evidence attached - and it is theirs to keep. One rule holds it together: we never claim a capability without evidence.
It starts with a baseline
A free trial lesson sets your child's starting band - the highest challenge they complete unaided. You leave with that placement in writing, and it is also the portfolio's first entry: where they began.
Eight bands, Bronze to Diamond
Each band is a real capability written down, not a level number. A stripe or a band is awarded only once a mentor has watched your child do it unaided - never for turning up, and never by age.
Every project goes in, with its evidence
What they built, what problem it solved, what they personally contributed, and what went wrong on the way - alongside the photos, the code and the working thing itself.
You'll see it each term
You'll get a termly review of the portfolio: what your child can now do, what they built, and what they're working towards next.

Hikora teaches real Python and real robotics, with AI literacy as a module of its own, on one structured pathway to age 18: engineers and creators, not button-pushers.

Not a buzzword on a poster. From the Silver band upwards a separate strand runs alongside the robotics: what the word AI actually means, how a machine decides, why the data it is given changes what it does, and where a person must decide instead.

Eight earned bands to age 18, toward GCSE Computer Science - a serious progression, not a term of activities.
Earned, never given
Every level will be assessed by a mentor who has watched your child do it unaided. Progress is proof, never attendance.

Progress will be certified, not assumed. At each band - Bronze through Diamond - your child will earn a Hikora certificate that records exactly what they can do: a clear, dated mark of real achievement to keep and to show.

One of Leicestershire's largest further education colleges. Final-year Leicester College students may carry out their industry placements with Hikora, supporting sessions and bringing current, college-level knowledge into the room. Every adult placed with us meets the same safeguarding standard as any other appointment.

Hikora is for young people aged 7-18, taught in three programmes: Younger (7-10), Older (11-15) and Juniors (16-18). Classes are grouped by age and ability, so every child is challenged at just the right level. Juniors meet on Monday evenings, 5:00-7:00pm.
Not at all - no prior experience is needed, and complete beginners are exactly who the pathway is built for. Beginners start with block-based coding whatever their age, and the pathway takes them from those very first steps to advanced projects, at their own pace.
It's how every child starts at Hikora - a free, full two-hour session in the class they'd join at our Leicester academy, where your child works through our graduated coding & robotics challenges. The highest one they complete unaided sets their starting band on the eight-band ladder, and you leave with that placement in writing - which programme they'd join, where they'd begin, and why, along with the pricing. Drop them off and come back fifteen minutes before the end, and we'll walk you through the pathway together. Pick the class and the date on the booking form and it's booked when you send it. There's no charge, no payment details, and no obligation to enrol.
Yes - and we'd rather show you the standard than just say the word. Every adult who works with a class will hold an enhanced DBS check, first-aid training and a safeguarding induction before they work with children, and we take up references before anyone is appointed. It's the bar every appointment has to clear, and we confirm each person's status to you in writing at the point of booking. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Redwaan Maxamed, our co-founder - you can reach him at info@hikora.co.uk, and our Safeguarding & Child Protection policy sets the rest out in full.
Classes are capped at eight students, so no child gets lost in the crowd - and every class will have a mentor and an assistant in the room.
Yes - that's a commitment, not a nicety. Your child will have the same mentor each week: one who will know them by name and track their progress from session to session. Consistency matters for every child, and especially for SEND families and any child who needs predictability to feel settled - if that's your child, tell us when you book the free trial lesson and we'll plan for it.
Nothing to buy - we provide the robotics kits and computers at the centre. Your child just brings themselves.
In person, in Leicester - we don't run online classes. Classes run at Mowmacre Sports Ground on Thurcaston Road, where your child works hands-on with real robots, in a small group - and every class will have a mentor and an assistant in the room.
